Recap: Palmetto Mustangs vs. Seneca Bobcats

The Palmetto Mustangs were the 51-46 winner over the Seneca Bobcats when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Palmetto was the victim of a tough 70-48 loss at the hands of Seneca on Monday.

Palmetto's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Xae Stokes, who scored 17 points, and Christian Beitel who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds. Stokes scored a full 35.4% of Palmetto's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Young, who scored 2 points along with 5 rebounds.

Seneca got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cam O'kelley out in front who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which O'kelley has scored at least 25% of Seneca's points. Jalen Craig was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with 7 rebounds.

Palmetto's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Seneca, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Palmetto won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Greer Middle College at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. One thing working in Greer Middle College's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Seneca, they will head out on the road to face off against Easley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Easley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Seneca likes a good challenge.
