Baseball Game Preview: Saugerties Sawyers vs. Averill Park Warriors

Saugerties hasn't had much luck against Averill Park recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Sawyers will take on the Warriors at 10:00 a.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

New Paltz hit Saugerties with a seven-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Sawyers came up short against the Huguenots, falling 12-3. The Sawyers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Averill Park has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.68 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 15-3 to Colonie Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warriors have suffered since April 23rd.

Averill Park's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8-1. As for Saugerties, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Saugerties couldn't quite finish off Averill Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 and fell 4-2. Can the Sawyers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
