Football Recap: Roswell Wins Going Away Against Westlake + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Buford, Roswell was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Westlake Lions as they made off with a 50-30 victory. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Trey Smith looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 72 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 248 yards and two TDs while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. A healthy portion of that aerial production (97 yards to be exact) went to Wills Campbell.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Roswell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 288 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westlake only rushed for 86 rushing yards.

Another reason for the win was Roswell's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They got some further help from Brody Duffy: he picked up a sack, made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Despite the loss, Westlake still got an impressive performance from Cannon Robinson, who threw for 375 yards and four touchdowns. Jacob Jackson helped Robinson out on the ground, picking up 55 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while also rushing for 62 yards.

Roswell's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Westlake, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Roswell and Westlake should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Hornets will challenge Seckinger at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (17 vs. 226). Meanwhile, Westlake (ranked 48th) will meet Hapeville Charter (ranked 131st) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
