Basketball Recap: Memorial Falls Despite Big Games from Yaleiska Diaz and Rayona Floyd-Brown

Memorial lost against Lowellville last Thursday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Memorial Red Devils took a 39-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lowellville Rockets. The Red Devils' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Memorial's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Rayona Floyd-Brown, who posted 11 points, and Yaleiska Diaz, who earned nine points and five steals. That's the most points Diaz has posted since back in January of 2024.

Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Lowellville, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Memorial will head out to square off against Jackson-Milton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Memorial is facing Jackson-Milton at the right time seeing as Jackson-Milton is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Lowellville has already played their next match (against Western Reserve), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
