Basketball Recap: Fivay Comes Up Short

Fivay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 38-31 to the Zephyrhills Bulldogs. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Fivay still got an impressive performance from Naimah Mota, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Mota a new career-high in blocks (three).

Even though they lost, Fivay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Fivay's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Zephyrhills, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Fivay will take on Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zephyrhills, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-41 win against Cypress Creek on the 16th.
