Baseball Game Preview: Fallbrook Warriors vs. Mission Vista

For the second straight game, Fallbrook will face off against Mission Vista. The Warriors will be playing at home against Mission Vista at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fallbrook has three straight wins, Mission Vista has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Fallbrook came out on top against Mission Vista on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Warriors walked away with an 8-3 victory over Mission Vista.

Teague Lucy and Eric Calderon were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lucy didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Calderon tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At the plate, Lucy went 3-for-4 with one RBI, while Calderon went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Calderon is becoming a predictor of Fallbrook's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Petey Pizzo, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

The win got Fallbrook back to even at 11-11. As for Mission Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-18.
