Preview: Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves vs. St. Teresa's Academy Stars
The Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves will head out on the road to challenge the St. Teresa's Academy Stars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Blue Valley Southwest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Blue Valley Southwest stacked a fourth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard. They breezed by Tonganoxie on the road to the tune of 59-21. Given Blue Valley Southwest's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Chieftains are ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blue Valley Southwest's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Unruh, who scored 13 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Mann, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, St. Teresa's Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-41 win over the Thunder on Wednesday.
Blue Valley Southwest is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for St. Teresa's Academy, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Blue Valley Southwest was taken down by the Stars 49-22 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Blue Valley Southwest was down 33-12.
