Cotter extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 9-9 in the process. They came up short against the Izard County Cougars, falling 14-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 back in March.
Will Morris was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Brayden Adams was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Izard County, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.
On Izard County's side, Kade Yancey and Tyler Morehead made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Yancey pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Morehead tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At bat, Yancey got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Morehead got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Mosley, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander McCandlis, who went 1-for-4 with two runs.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cotter will take on Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Izard County, they will face off against Riverside at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
