Basketball Recap: Legion Collegiate Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Legacy Early College

On Sunday, Legion Collegiate Academy faced Legacy Early College in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers lost 76-51 to the Legacy Early College Lions. The loss continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost seven in a row.

Legion Collegiate Academy's loss came despite strong showings from LaKiara Alexander and Amelia Williams. Alexander dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards, while Williams went 5 for 9 on her way to 15 points. The contest was Alexander's third in a row with at least ten points. Devin Long was another key player, putting up four points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Legion Collegiate Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.
