Football Recap: Watersprings vs. North Gem Cowboys
Watersprings was the 22-16 winner over North Gem when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Watersprings had to suffer through a 70-6 loss at the hands of the North Gem Cowboys.
Korban Nelson threw for 153 yards and a touchdown on only 12 passes.
Sean Perry was his top target, picking up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Craig Yost had an outrageously good game for North Gem as he rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Yost's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 108 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Rusty Hatch, who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Watersprings' defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for North Gem, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Watersprings will take on St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Watersprings focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday. As for North Gem, they will challenge Garden Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
