Softball Game Preview: Corning-Painted Post Hawks vs. Lancaster Legends

The Corning-Painted Post Hawks will face off against the Lancaster Legends at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Corning-Painted Post is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Middletown a 6-0 shutout. The victory was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won five games in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lancaster). Everything went their way against Rome Free Academy on Saturday as they made off with a 20-2 win. The victory was nothing new for the Legends as they're now sitting on five straight.

Lancaster got a massive performance out of Emma Andolina, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. Those three runs gave Andolina a new career-high. Brennah DeWald was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lancaster kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Lancaster's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Corning-Painted Post, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.
