Volleyball Game Preview: Pieper Warriors vs. Wagner Thunderbirds

Pieper is a perfect 7-0 against Wagner since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Warriors will face off against the Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Pieper is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering New Braunfels just ended the team's seven-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Unicorns.

While Pieper ultimately came up short, they really made New Braunfels work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-13, 13-25, 25-18.

Despite the loss, Pieper got top-tier performance from Cayleigh Monson, who had 24 digs. Monson has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Meanwhile, Wagner came up short against Boerne on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Greyhounds: they've now lost four in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-12, 25-15.

Wagner's loss dropped their record down to 1-24. As for Pieper, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-10.

Pieper took their win against Wagner when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
