Softball Game Preview: A.C. Reynolds Rockets vs. Enka Jets

A.C. Reynolds hasn't had much luck against Enka recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rockets will host the Jets at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, A.C. Reynolds turned things around against North Buncombe on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Black Hawks 2-1. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Kadyn Williams spent all 12 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 14 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Autumn Edmonds, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Poland, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Enka waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Warriors an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Jets, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Enka pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.1 runs on average over those games. As for A.C. Reynolds, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
