Baseball Game Preview: Colby Eagles vs. Ulysses Tigers

The Colby Eagles will head out to face off against the Ulysses Tigers on Tuesday. Colby's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Ulysses' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Colby lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Holcomb, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Longhorns a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Ulysses gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a run and slipped past Stanton County 9-8.

The team relied heavily on Stryker Berglund, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Caden Ledesma also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Colby is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Ulysses, their record is now 7-9.

Colby got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Ulysses by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
