Softball Recap: Charleston Comes Up Short

Charleston lost against Newton back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Trojans took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.

Charleston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lainie Keefer, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Charleston's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Newton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charleston will take on Taylorville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tornadoes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.68 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Newton, they will challenge Teutopolis at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
