Softball Recap: Buffalo Comes Up Short

Buffalo fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Hopkins on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Royals by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Bison couldn't push the score so high this time.

Kenley Bechtold spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Buffalo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Haugen, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run.

Buffalo dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Hopkins, their record now sits at 4-2.

Coming up, Buffalo will face off against Eden Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hopkins, they will take on St. Michael-Albertville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
