Baseball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 11-12-1 to make it four. They fell just short of the Stockdale Mustangs by a score of 5-4. The Golden Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Kellan Weaver was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Alex Hughes was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tanner Parsons, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

As for Stockdale, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-5-1. The game was the first time they have beaten Centennial on their field since March 14, 2024.

On Stockdale's side, they got a great performance from Gabriel Borja as he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Brock Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

While Centennial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
