Preview: Lake Country Lutheran Lightning vs. St. Francis Mariners
Lake Country Lutheran is 10-0 against St. Francis since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lake Country Lutheran Lightning will head out on the road to face off against the St. Francis Mariners at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Lake Country Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Tuesday.
Lake Country Lutheran pushed their score all the way to 57, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-57 to Kettle Moraine Lutheran.
Despite their loss, Lake Country Lutheran saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jack Poellet, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Jj Cerny was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Meanwhile, St. Francis really took it to SWCHA S for the full four quarters, racking up a 86-54 victory at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for St. Francis.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Francis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Green, who scored 12 points along with 7 steals and 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Nerby, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Lake Country Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for St. Francis, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Everything came up roses for Lake Country Lutheran against St. Francis when the teams last played back in February as the squad secured a 84-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Country Lutheran since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
