Recap: Freeman Scotties vs. Deer Park Stags
The Freeman Scotties lost against the Deer Park Stags back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The game between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Freeman falling 61-43. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Deer Park: they've now lost four in a row.
Freeman's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylee Phelps, who scored 16 points. The match was Phelps' 11th in a row with at least ten points. Avery Gass was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Freeman now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Deer Park, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
Freeman will take on Newport at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. Newport is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Deer Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakeside at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Lakeside is ranked 38th, while Deer Park is ranked 26th).
