Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Tigers vs. Marquez Gladiators

The Lincoln Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Marquez Gladiators at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Lincoln was able to grind out a solid win over Santee, taking the game 7-4. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marquez). They came out on top against Fremont by a score of 11-7 on Monday. Marquez's win was all the more impressive since the Pathfinders were averaging only four runs allowed on the season.

Ernesto Gonzalez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Salvador Garcia, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Marquez's record now sits at 7-2. As for Lincoln, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
