Baseball Recap: Vashon Island Victorious

Vashon Island won the last time they faced Chimacum and things went their way on Friday too. Vashon Island walked away with a 6-1 victory over Chimacum. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Charlie Walker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Walker wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Medeiros, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Vashon Island now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Chimacum, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Vashon Island will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against University Prep at 4:00 p.m. on April 10. As for Chimacum, they will square off against Bremerton at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. Chimacum is facing Bremerton at the right time seeing as Bremerton is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
