The Falkner Eagles will square off against the Hickory Flat Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Falkner is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Falkner took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Houlka with a sharp 16-6 victory. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Nolan Ashley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Morgan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Colee Stroupe was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Falkner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Hickory Flat couldn't beat Wheeler on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Rebels came up short against the Eagles, falling 20-4.
Nick Talley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Clayton, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Falkner pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Hickory Flat, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Hickory Flat's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Falkner has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hickory Flat, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Falkner keep running through batters, or will the Rebels buck the trend?
