Basketball Game Preview: Loris Lions vs. Marion Swamp Foxes

Loris is 1-8 against Marion since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Loris Lions will challenge the Marion Swamp Foxes at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.

Last Friday, Loris earned a 57-48 victory over Georgetown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marion). Everything went their way against East Clarendon on Friday as Marion made off with a 73-47 win. Given the Swamp Foxes' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Wolverines are ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Loris' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Marion, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Loris lost to Marion on the road by a decisive 71-57 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Can Loris avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
