Softball Recap: Hopedale's Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

Hopedale dropped their record down to 14-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They lost 8-0 to the Greenfield Green Wave. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Blue Raiders haven't been shut out since back in April.

As for Greenfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

For Greenfield's part, MacKenzie Paulin made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. Paulin has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Bucala, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Olivia Lemay was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
