Baseball Recap: Boyne Falls Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pickford, Boyne Falls was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Wolverine Wildcats with a sharp 14-6 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Loggers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Vincent Cousineau was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.

In other batting news, Boyne Falls got a massive performance out of Chace Rose, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayden Byrd, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Boyne Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Boyne Falls' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Wolverine, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Boyne Falls will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
