Football Game Preview: Langley Saxons vs. George C. Marshall Statesmen + How To Watch

The Langley Saxons will head out to challenge the George C. Marshall Statesmen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Langley's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.

Langley's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 40-0 win over McLean. Given the Saxons' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Highlanders are ranked 223rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Cole Samburg, who threw for 186 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 84.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 43 yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Langley proved: they limited McLean to a paltry -0.5 yards per carry. The Saxons didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.8.

Meanwhile, George C. Marshall came into Friday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 21-7 victory over Wakefield on Friday.

Langley's record is now 6-2. As for George C. Marshall, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Everything came up roses for Langley against George C. Marshall in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 42-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saxons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
