Preview: Unity Reed Lions vs. Osbourn Park Yellowjackets
Unity Reed is 1-9 against Osbourn Park since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Unity Reed Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Osbourn Park Yellowjackets at 6:15 p.m. Unity Reed comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Wednesday, Unity Reed ended up a good deal behind Park View and lost 58-41. While losing is never fun, Unity Reed can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Park View is ranked 173rd).
Osbourn Park has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 27 points or more this season. They breezed by Battlefield at home to the tune of 70-26. The victory was just what Osbourn Park needed coming off of a 58-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Unity Reed's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.8 points per game. As for Osbourn Park, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Unity Reed took a serious blow against Osbourn Park when the teams last played back in February of 2022, falling 57-18. Can Unity Reed avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
