Basketball Game Preview: Amherst County Lancers vs. Heritage Pioneers

Amherst County hasn't had much luck against Heritage recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Amherst County Lancers will be playing at home against the Heritage Pioneers at 7:00 p.m.

Amherst County is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Friday. They took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Charlottesville.

The losing side was boosted by Holt Bresach, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Those 16 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Jackson, who posted four points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Heritage beat Radford 43-38 on Friday.

Heritage's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Amherst County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Amherst County lost to Heritage at home by a decisive 54-40 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Amherst County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
