Softball Recap: Floyd County Takes a Loss

Floyd County fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against James River on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 13-10 to the Knights. The Buffaloes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Ava DeJesus was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kyra Vaughn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Floyd County and nudges their season record down to 8-3. As for James River, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-4.

Coming up, Floyd County will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Bassett at 5:00 p.m. As for James River, they will head out on the road to take on Waynesboro at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
