Basketball Recap: Pueblo County Takes a Loss

Pueblo County lost against Pueblo South back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pueblo County Hornets were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to the Pueblo South Colts. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pueblo County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Barrett Oringdulph, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Pueblo County is 2-1 when Oringdulph posts ten or more boards, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Lowry Kirkland, who posted 12 points.

Pueblo South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caeden Herrera led the charge by dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. Herrera is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. Christian Vigil was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Pueblo County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Pueblo South, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-8.

Pueblo County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 39-36 loss against Pueblo East on the 4th. As for Pueblo South, they have also already played their next match, a 58-54 defeat against Palmer Ridge on the 3rd.
