Softball Game Preview: Grace Christian Academy Lions vs. Columbia Academy Bulldogs

Grace Christian Academy is 0-7 against Columbia Academy since March of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Lions will face off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Grace Christian Academy took on Franklin Road Academy on Friday. The Lions lost 10-2 to the Panthers.

Grace Christian Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elaina Morgan, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Columbia Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Middle Tennessee Christian get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Friday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Anna Brewer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carolina Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Emerson McAdams, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Columbia Academy pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Grace Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Grace Christian Academy suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Columbia Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
