With a playoff win on the line, Greenfield-Central rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Mt. Vernon Marauders. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Addie Heacox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Greenfield-Central's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kristen Wineinger, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Greenfield-Central's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.

Looking ahead, Greenfield-Central will challenge Pendleton Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Arabians have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. Mt. Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
