Basketball Game Preview: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. Northside - Pinetown Panthers

The Lejeune Devil Pups will face off against the Northside - Pinetown Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lejeune has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Northside - Pinetown will arrive with four straight wins.

Last Friday, Lejeune was beaten by Southside 63-32.

Despite the defeat, Lejeune saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madison McQueen posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. McQueen has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Tiara Davis was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Northside - Pinetown humbled Jones with a 65-25 victory. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 25 points or more this season.

Lejeune's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Northside - Pinetown, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.

Lejeune was dealt a bruising 68-28 defeat at the hands of Northside - Pinetown in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Lejeune avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
