Basketball Recap: South Windsor Bobcats vs. Middletown Blue Dragons

The South Windsor Bobcats lost against the Middletown Blue Dragons back in December of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. South Windsor ended up on the wrong side of a tough 62-38 walloping at the hands of the Blue Dragons. While losing is never fun, South Windsor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Blue Dragons are ranked 20th).

Shalyn Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Middletown, scoring 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Butler, who scored ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for South Windsor and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Middletown, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

South Windsor won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bulldogs at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Stafford is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Middletown, they will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Platt is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
