Adding to the longest winning streak in 3A District 2 this week, Taos beat Hot Springs 54-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Pojoaque Valley and Albuquerque Academy played the most contested game in the league this week, with Pojoaque Valley eventually emerging with a 41-40 victory.
Taos' dynamic duo of Kevin McCarty and Lorenzo Rael proved tough for the Tigers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McCarty threw for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns and Rael had 151 yards receiving. Devin Ortega helped Taos' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 69 yards.
James Gonzales III was a beast in the backfield as Robertson defeated Portales.
Raton's Cam Baird and Caleb Wood led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Baird has thrown for 1,841 yards this season, while Wood has 37 catches for 712 yards. The Cardinals' Gonzales III leads the league in rushing yards with 1,210.
Flavio Lopez's team took down Hot Springs 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. McCarty ran for 16 yards during the win.
