Baseball Recap: Brooke Takes a Loss

Brooke extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 15-12 in the process. They lost 7-0 to the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Maroon Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Wheeling Central Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

For Wheeling Central Catholic's part, the result came thanks to Brayden Cover's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Wheeling Central Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Koy Lipinski, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Zayne Rosnick was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Coming up, Brooke will be playing in front of their home fans against John Marshall at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Monarchs have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, they will head out to challenge Madonna at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
