Baseball Recap: Malden Takes a Loss

Malden had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-18 to make it four. They fell just short of the South Pemiscot Bulldogs by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Green Wave have suffered since March 21, 2024.

As for South Pemiscot, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

For South Pemiscot's part, Zeke Floyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. Floyd has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jarvis Amerson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Robert Farmer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Malden and South Pemiscot will both be playing Gideon the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Green Wave will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
