Basketball Recap: Menominee Maroons vs. Gladstone Braves
Menominee played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Gladstone Braves, falling 61-35. While losing is never fun, the Maroons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Braves are ranked 39th).
Lillie Johnson was her usual excellent self, going 7-for-12 on her way to 19 points along with seven assists and seven boards for Gladstone. Those seven assists gave Johnson a new career-high. Eva Pankonien was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 16 points and three steals.
Menominee's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10-1. As for Gladstone, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-1.
Menominee has already played their next contest (against Oconto), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Gladstone, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 44-20 victory against Gwinn on the 13th.
