Basketball Game Preview: Carson Cougars vs. Concord Spiders

The Carson Cougars will face off against the Concord Spiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Carson lost 65-41 to Robinson on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Carson had strong showings from Allie Martin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards, and Rylee Hedrick, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Hedrick is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played.

Even though they lost, Carson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Concord was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 64-45 bruising from Robinson. While losing is never fun, the Spiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 114th).

Concord's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Carson, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-17.
