Recap: Meridian Bobcats vs. Goreville Blackcats
It was a good run, but the Meridian Bobcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a serious blow against Goreville, falling 75-36. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Meridian in their matchups with Goreville: they've now lost six in a row.
Leading Goreville to victory were Abby Compton and Breanna Suits. Compton dropped a double-double on 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Suits scored 22 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds. The matchup was Compton's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyndall Webb, who scored 16 points.
Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Goreville, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian will square off against Ballard Memorial at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Goreville, they will head out on the road to face off against Vienna at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Vienna is ranked 88th, while Goreville is ranked 70th).
