Baseball Recap: Glencoe Comes Up Short

Glencoe extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 7-7 in the process. They lost 10-4 to the Newberg Tigers. The Crimson Tide were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Lucas Culbertson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Caden Kingsbury was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

As for Newberg, their win bumped their record up to 8-5. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the match before.

On Newberg's side, they let Cole Thomas and Carter Hawes run wild. Thomas went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Hawes went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Newberg is undefeated when Hawes posts three or more RBI, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zadek Bowlby, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

While Glencoe had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
