Basketball Game Preview: New Summerfield Hornets vs. Cushing Bearkats

The New Summerfield Hornets will face off against the Cushing Bearkats at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for New Summerfield and four for Cushing.

New Summerfield faced off against Alto. in a bug-themed battle on Friday. New Summerfield was beaten by Alto 80-31. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1523rd, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 728th).

Meanwhile, Cushing came up short against Douglass on Tuesday and fell 67-59.

Cushing's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for New Summerfield, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-13.

New Summerfield took a serious blow against Cushing in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 59-27. Can New Summerfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
