Softball Recap: Centennial Extends Winning Streak to Four

Centennial had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Tallmadge Blue Devils.

Hailey Brereton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Centennial got a big performance out of Myrna Pratt, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave Pratt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Giuliana Cavallo, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Coming up, Centennial will square off against South Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Centennial 3.2, South Fork 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Tallmadge, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Revere at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The game will give Tallmadge their first taste of in-conference action this season.
