Baseball Recap: Logan Elm Comes Up Short

Logan Elm had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it 12. They fell 4-0 to the Miami Trace Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Braves of the 5-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2021.

As for Miami Trace, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

For Miami Trace's part, the result came thanks to Cam Morton's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks. Morton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gage Bowers, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Austin T Brown, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Logan Elm will challenge Circleville at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Miami Trace, they will take on Clinton-Massie at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
