Basketball Game Preview: Mary G. Montgomery Vikings vs. Bayside Academy Admirals

Having just played yesterday, the Mary G. Montgomery Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Bayside Academy Admirals at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mary G. Montgomery is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Mary G. Montgomery lost 53-28 to Bryant on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 118th).

Meanwhile, Bayside Academy came into Friday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 47-28 victory over Cottage Hill Christian Academy last Friday.

Bayside Academy found their leader in sophomore Eliana Blossom, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Misty Kate Smith, who posted 11 points.

Bayside Academy's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-14. As for Mary G. Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Everything went Mary G. Montgomery's way against Bayside Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Mary G. Montgomery made off with a 39-18 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mary G. Montgomery since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
