Football Recap: Morton Drops Highest Score of Season Against Leake Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morton). They came out on top against the Leake Central Gators by a score of 43-31 on Friday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Morton's defensive line and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Davarione McDonald, Laderrick Boyd, and Avonte Reese, who each picked up one sack apiece. Dolph Mcdonald got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Leake Central lost, don't look at Javario Daley. Despite the final result, he rushed for 143 yards and one TD while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.

The victory got Morton back to even at 2-2. As for Leake Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morton will welcome Raleigh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matches. As for Leake Central, they will square off against Velma Jackson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Gators' offense will have their work cut out for them.
