Baseball Game Preview: Paramount Pirates vs. Firebaugh Falcons

Paramount is a perfect 7-0 against Firebaugh since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pirates will host the Falcons at 3:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Paramount has three straight victories, Firebaugh has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Paramount proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Mary Star of the Sea get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since March 18th.

Jacob Quinones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over 8.2 innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Nicholas Medina was excellent, going 4-for-5 with one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandon Martinez, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Paramount hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Firebaugh's offense. They fell 4-0 to Paramount on Tuesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 3, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Firebaugh's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Paramount, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

Paramount was able to grind out a solid victory over Firebaugh when the teams last played on Tuesday, winning 4-0. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
