Basketball Recap: Wabasha-Kellogg Comes Up Short

Wabasha-Kellogg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a blow against the Grand Meadow Superlarks, falling 66-26. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-12.

Despite the loss, Wabasha-Kellogg saw an underclassman step up: freshman Annalise Wobbe posted six points and 13 rebounds. Wobbe has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last nine times she's played.

Even though they lost, Wabasha-Kellogg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Wabasha-Kellogg's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Grand Meadow, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wabasha-Kellogg has already played their next match (against Chatfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Grand Meadow will head out on the road to square off against Houston at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Houston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.9 points per game this season.
