Soccer Game Preview: Van Nuys vs. Sylmar

The Van Nuys Wolves will take on the Sylmar Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Van Nuys' last four games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Friday just wasn't the day for Van Nuys' offense. They fell just short of Reseda by a score of 1-0 on Friday. That's two games in a row now that Wolves have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Sylmar waltzed into their matchup on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They never let the Cougars onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Cougars are ranked 853rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sylmar is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which somehow still isn't as good as their 13-2-1 record this season. As for Van Nuys, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3-3.
