Basketball Recap: David Lopez Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Calipatria

Central won the last time they faced Calipatria and things went their way on Monday too. The Central Spartans snuck past the Calipatria Hornets with a 63-59 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from David Lopez, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds. Lopez is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. James Tovar was another key player, going 8 for 14 en route to 20 points.

Central's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Calipatria, they moved to 9-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest EC at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Calipatria, they will head out to square off against Imperial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
